Embroidering the Past: a textile exploration of the Pictish Stones of Moray

Ruth Black is a textile artist specialising in embroidery, felt making and weaving. Her particular interest is in Celtic & Pictish art which she translates into designs for a wide variety of wearable art and items for the home. In this exhibition she employs many different textile techniques to explore the wealth of Pictish sculpture in the area. Ruth works at her studio in Inchmore, 6 miles from Inverness, where she runs the family business “Anna Macneil” with assistance from her daughter, and also teaches feltmaking.
