Travels with Julian

a talk by John Ross

By 1918, more money was urgently needed to fund the war effort. As an exercise in selling War Bonds, a Mk IV tank was sent to Moray and other towns in the northeast. On the 101st anniversary of Julian’s visit to Elgin, John Ross’s talk recounts the visit here and to Aberdeen and Buckie along with the methods employed to move the machine from venue to venue.  Each town was competing to raise the maximum amount, with the prize a tank to keep in their town. Find out who won.
